I'm Karanjot, a software engineer currently working at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. My daily role involves maintaining Rucio, the data management software used by the ATLAS and other physics groups in the world. I primarily fix bugs, develop new features, and ensures everything runs well, while also exploring computing on the side.

Beyond CERN, I'm actively involved in open-source communities something I've loved since early in my career. I've contributed to over 25 organizations, including AWS, Microsoft, CNCF, and KDE. At KDE, I've been a core maintainer since 2022, developing tools like KEcoLab and KdeEcoTest to measure and improve software energy efficiency. I've also mentored students through programs like Google Summer of Code and multiple editions of Season of KDE.

Previously, I interned at Atlan, where I built their Go SDK and improved their Python developer tooling. During my Openlab Summer Internship at CERN (2024), I worked on integration of COSI into CERN's Kubernetes and OpenShift infrastructure. I also interned with the Linux Foundation's CNCF, creating a Kubernetes port scanner for the Kubescape Project. For a closer look, feel free to explore references from people I've worked with.

I enjoy sharing knowledge by frequently giving talks, leading workshops, and organizing hackathons through the Open Source Developers' Community (OSDC).

I'm interested in distributed systems, security engineering, computing infrastructure, and software sustainability. I love exploring philosophy, aviation, traveling, fancy keyboards, and other random computing adventures. Occasionally, I write about these topics in my digital garden, which I call Synapse.
